Have dined here a few times and it is consistently good.
Very friendly welcome from Tina and her staff.
Food was excellent and reasonably priced. Nice selection of carefully prepared dishes.
It seems to cater for diners and locals alike who just pop in for a drink.
Had Tempura, steak and cod and chips, limited menu but service excellent and all well cooked in a very friendly atmosphere. Will go again!
We love the menu at The Chequers. The quality and presentation of the food is superb. A previous review resentfully calls it a gastropub but in reality there are no pretensions here - just good, honest food. Fish n chips, sausages & mash, souvlaki, mac...More
We came here after receiving gift voucher. Clean and friendly environment. Only couple dining. Starter of tempura veg. Far to greasy. Burger was bang on. Again chips were to greasy. Awesome selection of beers. The land lady was very accomadting. I would visit again.
We had a big family crowd that was dealt with efficiently and very friendly. I wouldn't say food was exceptional; fish and chips only average, other menu selections were better. Still we all left the place happy and wouldn't mind coming back next time, on...More
Enjoyed a Sunday roast lunch with family. Good portion size, good quality ingredients, great customer service. Would definitely come back.
I have been on a job close to orwell and the chequers is now "my local". However, it is unfortunately not your typical village pub. It puts itself out to be a "gastro" pub and if that means overcharging for meagre portions then the chequers...More
Had lunch at The Chequers today prior to a visit to Wimpole Hall. We were served great standard pub food by very helpful and attentive staff at a reasonable price. This is not Micheline Star or gourmet dining, just good honest pub food. We were...More
We was brought a gift Experience which we redeemed at the lovely place. I was presently surprised at the quality of the food. We had 3 corses and drinks, and I can honestly say it was the best meal to date I’ve had in a...More
We came here for a family get-together and a Sunday lunch for 11. Excellent food, atmosphere and service. Many thanks - especially to the landlady who looked after us. Will no doubt be back as a couple / large gathering.
Went for Sunday lunch, staff very friendly and attentive. The Sunday roast, unfortunately a let down - came away feeling hungry. No vegetarian option, they had run out - we were booked in for 12.15pm and not all deserts available. Very disappointed with the food....More
